Rainy Road Sweeping in May – Our Favourite Jobs

May 28, 2021 11:25 am Published by

It is fair to say that May was a complete washout and not the usual sunshine and cool breeze we would expect to have in Spring – something that most people would not be happy about, but for us, it is music to our road sweeping ears.

Thanks to the bad weather, we have had a busy month road sweeping different jobs all across Bristol! Read more about our three favourite jobs we have been hard working on below.

Brabazon Hangar – Filton

Lights, camera, sweep! Our first favourite job of the month was from television production company Red Planet Pictures who had called in the help of PMG to sweep the whole of Brabazon Hangar in Filton, Bristol – the building used to construct the legendary Concorde ahead of filming for their new television show.

Our driver Josh ended up sweeping the (super impressive) 353 metre long, grade two listed building for three hours, making sure the floor inside the Hangar was as clean as could be and ready for its starring role, a great job done well!

Central Avenue – Avonmouth

We try and do everything we can to help the environment, so when we were called to our second job, we were more than happy to help! Our road sweepers were busy cleaning the streets of Central Avenue in Avonmouth and sucking up litter such as used coffee cups, plastic bottles, old tissues and general rubbish.

The transformation after we had finished sucking up the rubbish was remarkable and left the street looking lovely, tidy and how it should be. However, the job wasn’t quite complete just yet…

Afterwards, the litter was then taken back to our waste recycling facility – not only did we help tidy up the streets, but we have managed to give the litter a new lease of life by recycling all the waste that was picked up along the way.

Murphy & Sons – Bristol

Our third and final favourite job of the month was delivering a new waste bin to J. Murphy & Sons. The bin had hours of work spent on it by our welder to make sure it was up to scratch before being delivered to its new home.

The bin will be used to collect sweeper waste from within the site, keeping it separate from the waste collected from the public roads, and so reducing the number of times the sweeper needs to leave the site to tip at their recycling plant.

Murphy’s are currently in the process of constructing a 5km tunnel for the North Bristol Relief Sewer which is due for completion in spring 2022.
